Lazy Days.

We’ve all been there. Whether it be because we’re feeling unwell, or because we’re just feeling like it, we’ve all had lazy days. In fact, I had one today. I’ve had a completely packed schedule for the past week, with no spare time for myself. Today I made that time. However, one thing I truly dislike is not being productive. And though I’m glad I made this time, earlier on I couldn’t help but think that I might’ve wasted a day.

But I realised that sometimes, not being productive can be the very thing we need. Everyone needs some ‘me’ time in their lives, and I am incredibly grateful that at this point in my life, I am able to make that time. A whole day spent doing nothing is not a day wasted, but a day that prepares you for all the other days in which you will have to do everything. I don’t feel bad for spending time on myself. Because you know what – we all need it. Of course we need other people in our life to love and that love us, but love for yourself can be just as important.

Plus, lazy days can make you happy! Some of us may feel like we’re getting bored on our lazy days (I know I certainly did by about 3 pm after four episodes of 90210), but you know what? Appreciate the fact that you aren’t getting bored by other means (I’d hate to mention the R word). For me certainly, soon enough, most days will be spent doing revision. Exams mean that spaces for ‘me’ time in life are few and far between. Can I speak for us all when I say I’d rather get bored doing nothing rather than doing everything?

  1. I agree. Usually I’m too busy, and I’m thankful for the time I can sit down at the computer with a cup of tea, my cat, and my beta reader on Skype and think about why I’ve been so busy so that I can write about it.

    1. Sounds like you have a pretty great lazy day layout, Rosie Grace! Also, loving the inspiration soup on your blog – I am certainly adding a few of the ingredients to my days when I need to get stuff done.
